Zur Person

Katharina Fritsch is part of the scientific staff at the Department of European Policy and the Study of Democracy. She works as a researcher in the project “Digitalizing Youth Politics”, with a focus on the media analysis. Before, she was a pre-doctoral project researcher at the Department of African Studies (University of Vienna). The last years, she has been teaching at the University of Vienna (Political Science, African Studies, Gender Studies, Development Studies). Currently, she is also an associated postdoctoral researcher at the centre March Bloch (Berlin). In her dissertation in political science, she analysed political and cultural mobilisations of the Franco-Comorian diaspora in Marseille as a form of ethnicised (self-)governing. Her research interests lie in the field of Foucauldian epistemology and methodology, critical diaspora and migration research, postcolonial studies, intersectional approaches and de-democratisation processes in the context of states of emergencies.
