About the person
Composer Miguel Kertsman graduated from Boston’s Berklee College of Music in 1986 with honors followed by orchestral conducting studies with Mo. Attilio Poto at Boston Conservatory, and composition with Prof. Stanley Wolfe at New York’s Juilliard School.
Kertsman’s compositions span music genre boundaries encompassing Symphonic, Chamber, and Vocal Music for the Concert Stage, as well as Theatre, Experimental, Jazz, Electronica, and Media Music. Works have been commissioned, performed, or recorded by artists such as mezzo-soprano Angelika Kirchschlager, guitarist John Williams, conductor Dennis Russell Davies, and orchestras including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Vienna Symphony Chamber Orchestra, Sao Paulo Symphony Orchestra, the Saint Paul’s Chamber Orchestra, etc.
His music has been globally published or released by Sony Music, RCA Victor Group / BMG, Universal Edition, Naxos Records, and others. Miguel Kertsman has designed post-graduate program curricula and courses in Composition, Music Production and Management, holding lectures, master classes and colloquia at universities including Danube University Krems, IES Abroad / Dartmouth College, the Sibelius Academy, Helsinki Arts University, the Janáček Academy, and elsewhere.
As a solo recording artist, Miguel Kertsman’s progressive pieces, experimental releases and unique keyboard playing have also earned him a place in the international scene. His discography as studio musician, arranger, producer, audio engineer, and record label executive span over 200 international releases including international prizes and Awards (Grammy Award nomination, Cannes Classical Award, etc.).
