Continuing education in challenging times: The pace of change is accelerating and the need to manage complexity is growing. In today's fast-changing economic and social environment, it is more true than ever that one initial qualification alone will no longer be sufficient for an entire working life.

One strategy in the face of such dynamics is continuing education. In the face of uncertainty and increasing complexity, scientifically based thinking, methods and approaches help to develop appropriate approaches and ways of making decisions and finding solutions.

Academic continuing education with the highest quality standards in research and teaching

A study program at the University of Continuing Education Krems stands for research-led continuing education of the highest quality. It enables students to assert themselves in the job market, remain competitive, and meet current and future societal challenges. As such, it is a key to professional advancement and an individual career.

Innovative teaching and learning formats with high spatial and temporal flexibility

The University of Continuing Education Krems addresses the needs of adult learners. It enables students to complete a study program in continuing education parallel to their professional activities or, for example, caregiving responsibilities, and to acquire key competencies for professional and personal development. The university promotes flexible educational paths, expands options in the study programs, and will also increasingly conduct short programs that can be combined with one another. Building on its many years of experience in implementing innovative teaching and learning formats – especially in the digital field – the University for Continuing Education Krems provides the framework for the exchange of ideas with lecturers and students with professional experience, with the greatest possible flexibility in terms of space and time.

Personal growth and networking in an inspiring environment

State-of-the-art and technically well-equipped teaching and research facilities, comfortable accommodations and a diverse range of gastronomic and cultural offerings are some of the many factors that make up the service-oriented environment of the University for Continuing Education Krems. With its approximately 8,000 students and more than 30,000 graduates from numerous nations, the University for Continuing Education Krems promotes professional and personal networking and stands for an open, communicative climate based on diversity and mutual appreciation.

Expanding the range of studies and developing the study models

The University of Continuing Education Krems is constantly developing its range of courses, integrating new research findings directly into course content and implementing new study programs with a focus on current and future societal challenges. With the amendment of the University Act in 2021, the framework conditions for continuing education programs in Austria have been reorganized. Among other things, this will ensure their full integration into the Bologna structure and achieve permeability between regular studies and study programs in continuing education. For the first time, the University for Continuing Education Krems will be offering bachelor study programs from the winter semester 2023/24 onwards. For some of these new continuing education bachelor programs, which award the title BPr (Bachelor Professional), the general university entrance qualification (Matura) is not mandatory. Detailed information on the new legal framework can be found here.

Reorganization of the master’s study programs as of 1 October 2023

Due to the amendment of the University Act, the admission requirements for master’s study programs at the University of Continuing Education Krems will also change in the future.

The admission requirements for "Certificate Programs" and "Academic Expert Programs" remain unchanged.
