On Monday, June 22, 2020 Danube University's Center for Applied Music Research hosted an online event where attendees were able to learn about the Center's latest Master of Arts offerings -- new MA Programs in Music Management and Music for Applied Media -- as well as having the opportunity to enjoy a lecture by Berlin based International Music and Culture Journalist, Rebecca Schmidt, PHD (New York Times, American Symphony Orchestra League, etc.) about the Classical Music landscape in 2020, especially in regards to the Covid-19 crisis and its massive impact across many industries.
Moreover, a graduating student from the MA Program in Music for Applied Media, Hua-Chun Fan, aka "Fion", from Taiwan shared her experiences as a young female media composer active in Austria, London, Tawian among others. Fion also offered concrete suggestions from her perspective as to approach the crisis with a more positive attitude outlining new potential professional opportunities coming to surface as a result of the crisis.
Composer, Producer and Record Industry Executive, Miguel Kertsman, introduced the new MA Programs as he serves as their Academic Course Director and Faculty. Mr. Kertsman emphasized how wonderfully fortunate it is to be able to recruit and engage top Academics, Professionals and Practitioners in the field to share their extensive knowledge base and versatile expertise with our students. The Center for Applied Music Research Head, Dr. Eva Stöckler, welcomed a rather engaged audience at the start of the event, moderated by Researcher and Communications colleague, Eva Bauer.
