The Living Danube Limes project, which was realised 2020-2022 as part of the Interreg Danube Transnational Programme, has been selected for the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) short film 'Realise new potentials through cooperation'. This marks the project as an important showcase example of how cooperation in the Danube region can bring both direct benefits and contribute to the sustainable development of the region.

The aim of the project is to visualise and preserve Roman cultural heritage along the Danube. This not only promotes tourism, but also raises awareness of the shared history and culture of the Danube region. The active involvement of the local population ensures the sustainable protection of cultural heritage.

Austria has taken over the Presidency of the EUSDR from 1 November 2023 to 31 December 2024. Since 2011, the EUSDR has pursued a continuous approach that promotes both regional and European policy objectives in areas such as environment, infrastructur, economy, culture and social affairs in the countries and regions of the entire Danube region. Under the slogan "Shaping Transformation, Creating Opportunities: A Prosperous, Resilient and Secure Danube Region", Austria is committed to the positive development of the region. The focus is on stability and security, fostering innovation, skills and business opportunities, and enhancing the ecosystem.

In addition, the Austrian Presidency focuses on highlighting the clear benefits of the EUSDR at different levels - local, regional, national and European. This includes the visualisation of particularly successful or important projects (flagships) as well as specific EUSDR initiatives. The aim is to communicate the successes and their impact in order to raise awareness and support for the Strategy.

On behalf of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Regions and Water Management, Urban Innovation Vienna (UIV) has produced a series of short films that illustrate the positive aspects and added value of cooperation in the Danube region for the European public. In this context, the realisation of new potentials through cooperation was defined as one of the key added values. International cooperation and local investment create new possibilities and opportunities. The Living Danube Limes project was identified by the UIV as a significant contribution to bridging gaps and creating sustainable solutions. Through multi-stakeholder cooperation and the involvement of the local population, innovative ways are being found to preserve cultural heritage and promote tourism - an approach that has a positive impact on the entire region.

This recognition underlines both the commitment to cultural property protection and the importance of cooperation for sustainable development in the Danube region.
