The University for Continuing Education Krems has once again been awarded by the audit "hochschuleundfamilie" for its family-friendly measures. The certificate was presented to a total of 168 Austrian employers from various sectors at a ceremony held at Aula der Wissenschaften in Vienna on January 29. The university's most recent addition to its 15 family-friendly measures is a family room. This measure, implemented together with the Austrian National Union of Students, is designed to make everyday student life on campus easier for students with children.
The aim of the audit hochschuleundfamilie is to create good conditions for employees and students to make it easier for them to reconcile work and study with family life. As part of the certification process, the University for Continuing Education Krems has agreed to 15 measures, whose implementation is externally audited. The agreed measures relate, among other things, to the organization of studies, scientific and teaching activities, the workplace, and information and communication policy. For example, they aim at new forms of leadership, enabling home office and mobile working, or, in the area of studying, at supporting students in internationalization opportunities.
Family room
As a further measure to support students, the University for Continuing Education Krems, in cooperation with the Austrian National Union of Students (ÖH), is planning to set up a “family room” on the university premises. The room will be furnished in a child- and family-friendly manner and offer a place of retreat and recreation for toddlers up to 18 months under the supervision of a parent or accompanying person. In addition to the Austrian National Union of Students, the university's Facility Management, its Working Group on Equality Issues, the Office for Equality, Gender and Diversity, and the staff of the university day care facility Campus-Kids are involved in the realization of the project.
The re-certification, which already took place in 2024, extends over the next three years. The basic certificate of the “Audit hochschuleundfamilie” initiative was first awarded to the University for Continuing Education Krems in 2018.
