EUROPA NOSTRA Austria

EUROPA NOSTRA Austria is the Austrian representative of the international heritage conservation organization EUROPA NOSTRA. The relocation of the EUROPA NOSTRA Austria since September 2012 to the Danube University Krems goes along with an intensive administrative, organizational and scientific management of the corporation and its associated archive. EUROPA NOSTRA Austria aims to protect and preserve the cultural and natural heritage of Austria, to carry out research in this field and to raise public and professional awareness for its significance as a role model for the European culture. Besides, the cataloguing and digitization of the EUROPA NOSTRA archive material will be continued. Another objective of EUROPA NOSTRA Austria is to contribute to the link between research and practice. The developed scientific concept for this objective includes the methodical inspection and assessment of the archives’ materials, the analysis and recognition of key aspects, the formulation of research packages and themes for the development of Master Thesis as well as their scientific support. The development of lectures with relevant topics will allow the integration of EUROPA NOSTRA Austria into university program. Furthermore, the scientific concept comprises both lecture and publishing activities. Conversely, the treatise of research questions will contribute in increasing the project developers’ recognition and appreciation of cultural heritage and hence induce further development of methods and procedures of implementation for heritage conservation projects.
