Description

Thermomagnetic materials can be used for machines or devices to convert low-grade heat in electricity. The existing prototypes are essentially proofs of principle but have demonstrated where we can gain efficiency by improving designs and by tailoring materials properties. The consortium joins pioneers in the field of devices with materials scientists with ample experience in advanced magnetic materials preparation, and characterization and experts in modeling from atomic scale ab initio quantum mechanical modeling via meso scale micromagnetic modeling to macroscopic device scale. In a joint effort we want to bring magnetic waste heat recovery to recovery rates outperforming all current technologies at competitive costs. Simultaneously, we want to train young professionals in such multidisciplinary environment that can lead to cross-fertilization with fresh ideas to bring this green technology to yet a higher level.
