The following position is available at the University for Continuing Education Krems in the Faculty of Health and Medicine in the Department for Dementia Research and Nursing Science:

 

Professorship in Cognitive Research with a Focus on Memory, Attention, and Learning (m/f/d)
according to § 99 UG
(Austrian Universities Act)

20 hrs./week

Your tasks:

  • conducting basic and applied cognitive research with a focus on adults
  • establishing and supervising a research laboratory for teaching and scientific research
  • taking on organizational and economic management and leadership tasks within the department
  • conducting lectures and examinations
  • supervising students
  • publishing research results in scientific journals and presenting findings at relevant conferences
  • securing third-party funding for research projects at national and European levels
  • supervising master's theses and doctoral dissertations
  • establishing a doctoral program

 

Your profile:
To be considered for the position, the following selection criteria must be met:

  • completed university degree (Doctorate, PhD) in the field of Psychology or Cognitive Sciences
  • relevant habilitation or equivalent qualification
  • excellent scientific qualification in research and teaching
  • internationally cited publications
  • successful acquisition of third-party funded projects or experience in leading research projects
  • excellent knowledge of cognitive psychological methods (e.g., reaction time measurement, eye-tracking, surveys) as well as inferential statistical methods
  • experience in conducting courses and supervising bachelor's, master's theses as well as dissertations
  • competence in equality and diversity is required (if not available, willingness to complete appropriate training within two years of taking up the professorship is required)
  • good German language skills (at least B1) and excellent English language skills (at least C1) in spoken and written form

Desirable Skills and Knowledge:

  • experience and willingness to participate in university committees
  • experience in developing and leading (possibly part-time) university courses
  • competence in higher education didactics (also in the field of continuing education or within the framework of teaching with blended learning approaches)
  • strong social skills and ability to collaborate in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research teams
  • leadership skills

The professor will be appointed limited to 5 years according to the appointment procedure laid down in section § 99 UG (Austrian University Act).

 

The remuneration for this Professorship will be EUR 6,604.30 € gross per month, on a full-time basis (according to the collective agreement of the universities §49 VwGr. A1). A willingness to negotiate higher salary exists for candidates with corresponding qualifications and professional experience.
