Description

The research project is aimed at understanding and determining the health economic effects of using Community Health Nurses (CHNs) in Lower Austria. The research focuses on the tasks of a CHN in Lower Austrian pilot projects in the areas of health promotion, prevention and coordination of health services. The project analyses and documents the effectiveness, costs and accessibility of health services. In particular, it assesses the extent to which CHNs can contribute to reducing the burden on other service providers in the healthcare system (e.g. by reducing inpatient admissions, reducing doctor contacts or outpatient visits, and preventing complications with high follow-up costs).
