The topic of sustainability presents the construction industry with a variety of challenges. The European Union's Green Deal, the Sustainable Goals, ESG reporting and the Supply Chain Regulation have resulted in a wide range of requirements for the entire construction industry.
As a result, the industry is required to rethink its traditional methods and develop innovative solutions. Compliance with strict environmental regulations and standards requires investment in training for employees.
Sustainability also influences the planning and design phases, as buildings must be designed to be environmentally friendly and resource-efficient throughout their life cycle and adapted to climate change. The need for and evaluation of environmentally friendly building materials and techniques as well as the opportunities for reusing materials in a circular system are the central topics of the Certificate Program “Ecological Assessment of Construction Products, Construction Services and Buildings”.
In addition, ways are shown to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions, which makes the use of renewable energies and energy-efficient technologies necessary.
