Garden therapy involves the targeted use of nature to increase a person’s mental and physical well-being. In addition to medical reasons for therapy (e.g., disabilities, dementia, Alzheimer's disease), there are increasingly socially determined conditions such as anxiety, depression, or trauma that make the use of therapeutic strategies beneficial in addition to traditional treatment options. This is the case for children and adolescents, psychosomatic and psychiatric patients, geriatric or dementia-related people. Garden therapy has also achieved great success in the rehabilitation of persons with addictions and represents a holistic complement or alternative to conventional therapeutic strategies.

Time in the garden is good for our health. Garden therapists connect people with nature; through targeted gardening activities, health is maintained and improved.
