Blended and Distance Learning
The University for Continuing Education Krems applies innovative learning formats. Digital options are used to create the basis for flexible study in terms of time and location. This allows work, family and studies to be reconciled.
The university uses two learning formats to make studying as flexible as possible:
Blended learning formats include flexible online phases as well as scheduled phases that take place on site, hybrid (partly on site, partly online) or online. Digital and analog elements are well coordinated.
Distance learning formats transfer studies into the virtual space. Studying is largely done online, from home or at another location of choice.

How online learning works
The online phases include a variety of formats. They range from joint exchanges between learners and teachers in virtual settings such as video conferences to collaboration on digital whiteboards. Interactive and multimedia learning materials are used to make learning engaging.
There are also modules that can be completed independently and flexibly on a digital learning platform. These are supported by digital learning resources such as scripts, videos and much more.
Communication with lecturers and other students via our learning platform enables regular exchange and collaboration.
The concrete design of the learning format is always based on subject-specific characteristics and is individually designed in each continuing education course and program. Different didactic methods and learning activities ensure a varied and student-centered acquisition of skills.
Some university seminars are held entirely on site and without preparation and follow-up in virtual space. These take place “on-campus”.
