The climate crisis and energy transition pose major challenges for our society. In order to achieve the specified climate targets, the demolition of existing buildings can only be an exception. Assessing the sustainability of our existing buildings forms the basis for more far-reaching strategies for action. Weighing up handcrafted building constructions against industrial building systems is comprehensive and also includes aspects such as regional value creation. In order to be able to approach new challenges with empathy, skills in the field of building culture and restoration are required, which the Certificate Program “Resource Existing Buildings” imparts.
