The Danube Limes is often referred to as the "hard" border of the Roman Empire. Less known is that the Romans were also present north of the Danube:
today's Lower Austria, South Moravia, and Western Slovakia formed a cultural, economic, and military region.
The research project "Roman Trails" aims to establish a cross-border thematical region in the Weinviertel and South Moravia under a common brand.
We invite all history enthusiasts and adventure seekers to participate in our online survey (10-15 minutes; available in English & German):
Share with us what aspects of the fascinating Roman history north of the Danube captivate you and how you would prefer to receive more information on these topics!
By participating in the survey and competition, you agree to the General contractual terms and conditions for events held by the University for Continuing Education Krems (UWK). If you wish for further information in accordance to art. 13 GDPR please refer to our privacy policy.
Winners will be notified in writing.
Roman Trails
The project focuses on the creation of a common, cross-border thematic region of the areas of South Moravia and the northern part of Lower Austria (Weinviertel), based on the - little known - Roman history north of the Danube and the establishment of interactive (long-distance) hiking and cycling trails along the traces of the Roman history.
