Main Event

Following the 1st Global Transdisciplinarity Conference in fall 2021 the 2nd Global Transdisciplinarity Conference will be held in spring 2024 at our partner institution Cappadocia University at its scenic location in Mustafapaşa, central Anatolia.

The Global Transdisciplinarity Conference focusses on coping with the current poly crisis, of which climate change, refugee crises, the Corona pandemic, and recent wars in Ukraine and the Middle East are symptomatic. As a whole it has threatening implications for social peace, ecological equilibrium, the world economy, health and the well-being of all lifeforms. The complexity of these threats and the hardly predictable mutual spill-over effects require new approaches. The methodologically conditioned views of the individual scientific disciplines fail us here, because they enforces results that do not reflect the whole. Transdisciplinary thinking and acting transcend the system-boundaries within and between fragmented disciplines by integrating all kinds of empirical knowledge, arts as well as spiritual wisdom and philosophical reflection. In this sense, the conference wants to contribute to overcoming the limitations of the post-enlightenment view and its claim to dominion over nature.

 Aims:

  • Scaling the transdisciplinarity idea with global partners
  • Further develop and apply the transdisciplinary process itself
  • Transdisciplinary development of Responsible Leadership and Governance with a focus on the New Economics Debate based on sustainable responsibility
  • Enhanced adaptive capacity for societal peace by fostering transdisciplinarity
  • Developing diverse mindsets of responsibly understanding oneself within our world
  • Transdisciplinary approaches for science practice collaborations
  • Bridging and enhancing networks between research and practical excellence
  • Rethinking traditional and new forms of communication for transdisciplinary experiencing, understanding and exchanging
  • Intending a new philosophical basis for transdisciplinarity
  • Sharing a cultural and nature experience in order to facilitate common understanding and provide an open mental space to develop a holistic perspective

The main conference will take place in Mustafapaşa on the 26-30 June 2024 with decentralised pre-events leading up to the main event.

A parallel event will take place at the University for Continuing Education Krems, joining special tracks meeting there with the main event at Cappadocia University online. The event in Krems will be held according to the guidelines of the Ecolabel for Green Meetings and Green Events.
