Political communication includes political information, political participation and political communication in the narrower sense as campaigning.

The network Political Communication netPOL exists since 2011. As a union of the Danube University Krems and the Karl-Franzens-University Graz with the German-speaking Andrássy University Budapest, the German Zeppelin University Friedrichshafen as well as external network partners from the tertiary education sector, it is supported by the province of Lower Austria.

The countries Austria, Hungary and Germany are regarded as supporting pillars of netPOL and cover different emphases and expertise in their cooperation with partner universities. The main topics of the network activities are European political education, election and political participation research, public affairs and lobbying, media research, mass media communication as well as strategy and network analyzes.

The declared goal of netPOL is to strengthen and expand the teaching and research area of ​​Political Communication and Political Education through cooperation between the partners and partner universities. The core element of the network is the joint PhD program. There are currently ten PhD students here.
