Additional Module of the CD-Lab- Extracellular Vesicles

The project, which is funded by the Federal Government of Lower Austria to supprot the CD laboratory for Innovative Therapy Approaches in Sepsis, aims to establish a broad spectrum of methods for the characterization of extracellular vesicles, the determination of their cellular origin, and their functions in different pathological settings. Methods comprise flow cytometry, nanoparticle tracking analysis, characterization of vesicle subfractions by Western blotting, Imaging Flow Cytometry (collaboration: Prof. Andreas Spittler), cryo-electron microscopy (collaboration: Dr. Thomas Heuser), thrombin generation, as well as interaction of extracellular vesicles with blood cells. In collaboration with clinical partners, the spectrum of methods will be applied to characterize extracellular vesicles from septic patients.
