Complex algorithms in image generation and image processing are applied today equally in all scientific disciplines and technical sciences to increase the quality of imaging technology. During image generation, the human eye's perception must be deceived in order to obtain a perfect image because the retina is not penetrated linearly by photons. In image processing interventions, a distinction must first be made between procedures that generate a new image and those that provide information about the image. Little information is passed on to the user as to whether the applied procedure preserves the basic structures of the image or significantly alters them. Usually, the methods used for image processing support complex algorithms to optically adjust and embellish an image but at the expense of data truth. An association of research centers and companies under the leadership of the University of South Bohemia to form the "ImageHeadStart" platform enables an innovative research and development project in the field of imaging techniques. Further cooperation partners are the Institute for Technical and Applied Mechanics, the Telc competence center of the CZ Academy of Sciences, the Upper Austrian University of Applied Sciences with FH Wels and FH Linz as well as various companies.

This project is funded by the EU, in particular the European Regional Development Fund.
