1st Global Transdisciplinarity Conference

The 1st Global Transdisciplinarity Conference will be held as a hybrid event both at Danube University Krems and online. Live participants will be able to experience the scenic setting of the Campus Krems and Göttweig monastery at the Danube river. Online participants will be able to attend an inclusive Hybrid Enabling Mutual Learning Space that offers as much direct involvement as possible by that means. Everyone interested in the proceedings can follow the conference via livestream. 

09.00  Registration & Meeting Spaces

• Registration desk in the main building will be open till 14.00. Registration for late arrivals at the conference office. 
• Meeting Spaces will be available all over the Campus Krems indoors and outdoors (depending on weather) for one-on-one and group meetings. The individual tracks can use the morning for first sessions in any format of their own choice. 

12.00  Lunch Reception

• Join us for a welcome drink and light lunch of regional products before the official opening.

13.30  Opening 

• The conference will commence with a welcome by the organisers and the representatives of Danube University and collaborating institutions followed by an introductory dialogue on different schools of Science Society Collaboration.

15.00  Best Practice Cases

• To showcase exemplary Science Society Collaboration projects, the first slot of the conference is dedicated to Best Practice Cases:  
  1. "Understanding how transdisciplinary processes work: Lessons learned from the large-scale transdisciplinary study DiDaT"

• This session is dedicated to the theoretical background of science society collaboration and knowledge integration, recent developments in the field, to different schools and approaches and the general role science and institutions of higher learning can play in society in the future.

11.30  Main Session #2: Methodology of Science Society Collaboration & Knowledge Integration

• This session is dedicated to the various methods developed and being developed to further science society collaboration, to tools, practices and experiences of knowledge integration and collaboration between science and practice.

• This session is dedicated to the current and upcoming challenges in society and the coupled human-environmental system that call for application of and advances in science society collaboration and knowledge integration.

18.00 Main Session #4: Transdisciplinary Education for Future Challenges

• This session is dedicated to the role of primary and life-long education and institutions of higher learning in enabling society to engage in transdisciplinary processes more effectively in the future.

09.00  Case Based Mutual Learning Forum

• Over the course of the day individual tracks and presenters will be given the opportunity to present their work, experiences and current projects in SSC and knowledge integration in a multitude of formats ranging from presentations, posters and workshops to online exhibitions.

12.00  Plenary Session

• The plenary session will review the online Knowledge Map generated over the course of the conference and formulate a set of Leading Questions for the future of SSC.
• It will conclude with a manifesto on the Next Steps in SSC and the preview and save the date for the 2nd Global Transdisciplinarity Conference.

15.00 Social Program

Live participants have a choice of several excursions including a guided tour and wine tasting at Göttweig monastery, a trip by ship up the Danube river to Melk or a nature experience in the surrounding woodlands. For online participants a Gather.Town virtual hangout will be organized.
