The Center for Cultures and Technologies of Collecting deals with the development and implementation of transdisciplinary research projects and teaching formats in the cultural and collection studies. Particular attention is paid to cultural heritage, especially to collections.
With the Chair for Cultural History and Museum Collections, the center is dedicated to innovative approaches to methodological and practical questions of conservation and research of collections and museum education. In addition to basic research projects on the history of collections, research activities focus on the social significance of museums and collections in view of current digital and global challenges. The national and international cooperation partners come from universities and research Institutes as well as from museums and collections.
The unique range of courses in museum and collection management combines theory with practice-based know-how to develop future oriented strategies for collecting institutions such as museums, libraries and archives. In the low residency courses, international experts from museum practice and research impart current solutions to the museum's key tasks as well as cross-sectional subjects such as management and leadership competence.
