Background: Strokes of the posterior circulation typically present with different symptoms than those of the anterior cerebral vascular territories. The symptoms are often harder to identify and do not correspond to the typical stroke signs, and they are not represented in most stroke scales. Due to the poorer perception of symptoms by affected individuals themselves or by observing laypersons, there is a delayed alerting. Due to a poorer perception in the prehospital emergency care, there is insufficient recognition and assignment to the necessary care pathways.
Research Question: Can the introduction of an adapted and extended prehospital stroke score increase the rate of stroke patients receiving recanalizing therapies?
The APPS+ research project is understood as a scientific supplement to the quality project APSS+ planned in cooperation with the NÖGUS, within the framework of which the practical implementation and structured organized application of the new score will take place.
