To effectively respond to the worldwide increasing incidence of dementia, new evidence-based concepts are needed. Dementia not only has profound consequences for the affected individual, their daily life, and social environment, but also challenges our healthcare system.

Integrated models of care for people with dementia and their environments are being discussed internationally as potential solutions. The Department of Dementia Research aims to explore these integrated care models and thereby make a significant contribution to supporting people with dementia and their environments. The department is also involved in international collaborative projects.

A central focus of the Department of Dementia Research is the establishment of open, transparent research structures in line with "Open Science" principles.
