Welcome event for new employees
The rectorate of the university invites all new employees to the regular ‘WELCOME@UWK’ event. This event offers newcomers the opportunity to familiarize themselves with our university's strategy and gain insights into the areas of research, teaching and university administration. As a university for continuing education, the further education and personal development of our employees is very important to us.
A comprehensive internal course catalogue supports employees in continuing their education in various subject areas - for example IT, teaching, & research, leadership and personal development - easy to access during working hours.
A special feature we offer you as an employee is the opportunity to complete courses at our university at a greatly reduced price.
External further training is also subsidised according to requirements.
ENCO - development and coaching program for female employees*
The development and coaching program (ENCO) for female* employees, especially for people who identify as women, trans* women, inter* or non-binary, is a central component in the university's overall equality measures. The aim is to support participants in their personal development. Regular workshops and coaching sessions are organised over the course of one year.
Erasmus+ programme and mobility grant
Through the Erasmus+ programme and the mobility grant, both academic and administrative staff have the opportunity to gain international experience, broaden their professional horizons and build valuable international networks.
Employees have the opportunity to take part in further education programs such as workshops, job shadowing and training or to participate in research and teaching at a foreign partner university for a period of 2 days to 2 months.
Career mentoring
The aim of the program is to contribute to increasing the number of women in academic leadership positions. To this end, the career development program offers participating female scientists a wide range of opportunities for academic career development.
Career development talk
Within the context of the university's strategic framework, the carreer development talk aims to address the individual life and career phases of each employee. Its flexible application makes it a valuable management tool with a high level of effectiveness in terms of trust between managers and employees, team satisfaction and the successes achieved by the University for Continuing Education Krems. At the same time, the career development talk is an important basis for personnel development measures and creates a common understanding of the status quo with regard to development status, goals and their achievement.
The discussion should lead to further successes, motivation, trust and satisfaction and offers an ideal opportunity to discuss individual further training measures and planned development steps for the next period together with the supervisor.
Work-Life-Balance
Flexible working hours
Taking into account private obligations and interests, the university offers flexible working time models (e.g. flexible working hours with compact core hours, individual extension of home office options in the event of caring responsibilities, part-time education, etc.).
Furthermore, the lunch break is included in the working hours (30 minutes, on days with more than 6 hours of working time).
Home office and mobile working
In order to offer employees flexibility and a good work-life balance, they can conclude a home office and mobile working agreement with the university after consultation with their line manager. In this agreement, the possibility of working from home and mobile working can be agreed to an individual extent with a maximum limit of 42% of weekly working hours. There are also special training programmes in this area.
Additional (half) days off
24 December and 31 December are defined as days off according to the collective agreement for universities.
In addition, the university grants its employees further days off:
- Good Friday: all day off for all employees
- Shrove Tuesday: off duty for all employees from 12:00 noon
- All Souls' Day: off duty for all employees from 12:00 noon
- UWK Day: all day off for all employees (determined annually by the rectorate)
Campus Kids
In the lovingly designed day care centre in the old building of Campus Krems, children aged 1.5 to 6 years are looked after in mixed-age groups to support the compatibility of family and career. Employees of the University fir Continuing Education Krems can register their children here.

Company coaching programme
Company coaching offers employees from all organisational units and all functions individually tailored advice on work-related issues, problems or conflicts. In an appreciative atmosphere and with professional support, new perspectives and solutions to problems are developed with the most customised assistance possible. As an employee of the University of Krems, you can take advantage of 1-5 coaching sessions of 50 minutes each per year.
Workplace health promotion
Workplace health promotion aims to prevent illness in the workplace and improve the health and well-being of employees. The University for Continuing Education Krems is the proud holder of the seal of approval for workplace health promotion.
Examples of previous campaigns and initiatives include Lower Austria Cycles, the Lower Austrian Chamber of Labour health truck, Austrian Health Day, blood donation campaigns, etc.
Weekly exercise sessions
All employees are provided with free exercise and relaxation sessions. One unit per week can be completed during working hours.

Discounted parking spaces
As an employee of the university, you can obtain a parking permit for the car park on campus. For the parking authorisation, only a benefit in kind of € 14.53 (as of 01/2025) is charged. Owners of electric vehicles (no hybrid) are exempt from the benefit in kind.
Pension fund
The pension fund is an instrument of occupational pension provision that offers the opportunity to receive a supplementary pension in addition to the statutory pension. Supplementary pensions from pension funds represent the second pillar of the pension scheme. These are an important supplement to the statutory pension. In accordance with § 73 Uni-KV, the University of Krems makes an ongoing monthly contribution to the pension fund once the requirements have been met.
Travel allowance
If you are entitled to the commuter allowance or the commuter euro as an employee, you can also receive a travel allowance, the amount of which depends on the commuter allowance.
