Since October 2024, the Department of Arts and Cultural Studies has been publishing the peer-reviewed online journal DAC - Digital Journal for Arts & Cultural Studies | Digitales Journal für Kunst- und Kulturwissenschaften.
This journal sees itself as a communication platform with distinctive characteristics that go beyond a traditional academic journal. Thus, typical scientific peer-reviewed articles can be found alongside experimental texts, and project reports alongside expert discussions, and there is also a place for undirected textual explorations of new issues.
In addition, we have decided to place German alongside English-language texts, recognizing that language is an important tool in the humanities, and that sometimes English is the better choice, while at other times, German is more appropriate. Other languages are definitely not ruled out for the future.
The journal therefore not only reflects the thematic diversity within the Department of Arts and Cultural Studies, but also demonstrates a methodological breadth that draws on the various disciplines at the department. It is particularly important to us to look beyond the boundaries of the department and to invite colleagues from other universities and outside the academic world to contribute.
The disciplines and the colleagues representing them change from issue to issue, ensuring that the Digital Journal for Art and Cultural Studies continues to evolve as a joint project of the department.
