Barbara Brenner

Zur Person

Barbara Brenner is Professor of Management at the Department of Management and Economics at the Danube-University Krems, Austria. Before joining the Danube-University in January 2013, she was Fulbright professor at the University of South Carolina. Earlier she held positions at the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU Vienna). She studied in Austria, the United States, and Australia and received a Ph.D. and a Magister (Mag.rer.soc.oec) in International Business from WU Vienna.


Barbara’s research and teaching interests include strategic management, control, innovation and knowledge management of the multinational corporation. During her career she has worked with several multinational corporations as well as SME firms on case studies, research and consulting projects.


Her research in this field is regularly presented at the leading international conferences and has been published in top international journals, amongst others Organization Science, Long Range Planning, Academy of Management Learning & Education, and Marketing Review. She is the author of the book “Management Control in Central and Eastern European Subsidiaries” published by Palgrave Macmillan. For her academic work, she received several awards and scholarships, such as the Fulbright Research Award, the Maria-Schaumayer-Award, and several Best Paper Awards at international conferences. 
 

Barbara has taught MBA and executive development programs on a variety of topics, such as Global Strategy, International Management, Transnational Marketing, Cross-cultural Management, Microeconomics of Competitiveness, and Competitive Analysis in internationally accredited programs in a number of European countries and the United States.
