Zina Weisner ist seit November 2020 PhD Studentin und wissenschaftliche Projektmitarbeiterin am Department für Migration und Globalisierung. Sie ist Forscherin in den Forschungsprojekten “Smart Migration and Asylum Governance” (SMAG) und “Aligning Migration Management and the Migration–Development Nexus” (MIGNEX).

  • Mitglied der Forschungsgruppen “Migration Policy and Governance” und “Migration Drivers and Processes” 

Zur Person

Sie erhielt ihren Bachelorabschluss (B.A.) in Governance and Public Policy- Staatswissenschaften an der Universität Passau und war währenddessen für ein Auslandsstudium an der Universidad de Costa Rica. Ihr Masterstudium (M.A.) in Development Studies absolvierte sie ebenfalls an der Universität Passau. Bevor sie zum Department für Migration und Globalisierung kam, war sie im Referat Afrika der Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung in Berlin, als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Lehrstuhl für Internationale Politik der Universität Passau und für die Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in Addis Abeba, Äthiopien tätig. 

Zu ihren spezifischen Forschungsinteressen gehören: 

  • Triebkräfte und Dynamiken internationaler Migrationsprozesse 
  • Nexus Migration und Entwicklung 
  • Externalisierung der Europäischen Migrations- und Grenzpolitik  
  • Gender und Migration 
  • Feministische und kritische Sicherheitsstudien 
  • Rechte und Schutz von MigrantInnen und Geflüchteten
