As part of the interdisciplinary conference “Material Turn and War Experience in the 20th/21st Century. New perspectives on memory”, this year’s evening event explored the question of how the experience of conflict in Lebanon and individual artistic development influence each other.
How do collective and individual memories manifest themselves? And which perspectives receive too little attention in public discourse?
Therefore, Christina Hainzl and Viola Rühse (both University for Continuing Education Krems) introduced and discussed the works of the Lebanese artist and filmmaker Ali Cherri and Lebanese-Austrian artist and photographer Tanya Traboulsi before they had a discussion with her on the 17th October 2024 in Vienna (Künstlerhaus, Karlsplatz 5, 1010 Vienna).
It was part of the Material Turn And European War Experience In 20th And 21st Century: New Perspectives On Politics Of Memory conference.
